An important reminder: Any home buyer who wants to use the $8,000 first-time (or first-time-in-three-years) home buyer tax credit must settle on their property purchase by November 30, 2009 to qualify. Because mortgage approvals and appraisals can take quite long to secure, home buyers should set a target of no later than October 31, 2009 to settle, providing a month's leeway to cover unexpected delays.
